There are many factors that can influence the health of your pet, but the single most important one is his doggie diet . Many store-bought dog foods do not provide the highest-quality nutrients; while they will give your dog just what he needs to function, they do not support a healthy lifestyle.

In fact, does your dog show any of the following symptoms: large, smelly stool, gaseous, burps often, sheds constantly, prone to ear and skin infections, lack of energy, or hyperactivity. If these issues seem familiar, your dog is likely not getting enough nutrients from his food.

So, what does a dog need in his diet ? Your dog needs 45 nutrients to function properly. Major groups for these nutrients are protein, carbohydrates, fat, vitamins and minerals, as well as water. These nutrients have to be in the right amounts so that they are properly digested and absorbed by the body.

However, not all brands of dog food provide all of these nutrients. Even expensive, premium commercial dog foods often contain ingredients that are simply not good for your dog. For example, the first ingredient in a dog food may be meat, but what kind of meat is it? If the species isn’t specified, it could be just about anything: Animals that were dead or dying when they reached the slaughterhouse. Animals that were diseased. Cancerous tumors. In some cases, plants that supply pet food companies use road-kill and dead pets from animal shelters and veterinarians’ offices. You can read more about this by checking out the Confidential Dog Food Report.

The best thing you can do for your dog is to start reading dog food labels and take the time to find out which brands offer the most health benefits. Your dog depends upon you to give him the nourishment he needs; if you fail to provide that, you could be shortening his lifespan or putting a limit to his quality of life.

Even if you have owned dogs before, it is possible that not all of your dog’s needs are being met, even if inadvertently. We’re going to talk about a few of the things that you should endeavor to spend extra time and attention on.

The Importance of Exercise

First, we’re going to talk about the importance of exercise. All dogs, no matter what breed, need a certain amount of exercise to be in optimum health. A common excuse among pet owners is the lack of time for exercise. What most of these people fail to see is that adequate exercise doesn’t have to be time consuming. Step into the backyard or visit a park for twenty minutes so you can toss your dog’s favorite toy around.

Let him fetch it and gain the exercise he needs while you don’t exhaust yourself. If you aren’t pressed for time, consider taking your dog on a nice walk in the mornings or evenings. This is a great way to wake up or wind down, depending on the time of day you walk, plus it shows your willingness to spend special time with your dog, which is terrific!

Companionship needs

One aspect of caring for a dog that a great deal of pet owners take for granted is that of the emotional sort. Dogs require a great deal of companionship, but they also need someone to take control or they will.

Spoiling a dog can be nearly as harmful as neglecting him, so it s important that you find a balance between the two. Set aside special time when you and your pet can chill out or play around. Let him know that you value him as a member of the family, but correct him if he becomes too demanding of you or another family member. Remember that dogs naturally move in packs, which is what your family resembles. If you do not establish yourself as the leader of the pack, the dog will attempt to. This is usually a concern among puppy owners.

Feeding

How and what you feed your dog has a big effect on your pet’s health and over-all behavior. There are so many commercially available dog foods to choose from that making the right decision can be somewhat impossible. For a change, look beyond the labels and advertisements and look into what exactly your dog food contains.

The five main items that need to be in your dog’s food are: protein, carbs, polyunsaturated and saturated fats, and vitamins and minerals. If the dog food label doesn’t list a source for these (ie: source of protein should be listed as beef, chicken, lamb, etc.), then the source probably isn’t very healthy.

You may want to include, for best nutrition a range of pet herbs and vitamin supplements to complement the dog food to ensure optimal health and to reduce the risk of dog health conditions deteriorating over time

Learn to read dog food labels by visiting Dog Food for Life and reading the Confidential Dog Food Report.

Try to make these minor adjustments to your dog’s life. It really doesn t take a great deal of time on your part and your dog will lead a much happier and healthier life.

Many people suffered through the lost of their beloved pets in 2007 due to dog foods that contained a harmful chemical called melamine. This was a wake-up call to many families who owned pets, and one that will not soon be forgotten!

Dog Food for Life

Visit Dog Food For Life Here!
Due to pet owners growing distrust in the dog food production companies, many have begun to make their own dog food from raw ingredients that meet all of their canine’s nutritional needs. Besides, how can one be sure that the dog food they use today won t be on the recall list a few months from now? The common name for homemade natural dog food is the raw food diet for dogs.

The raw diet is not a new trend, though many pet owners think it is. This diet is basically mimicking what your dog would eat if he were out in the wild. Some people have even called it the BARF diet. BARF stands for Biologically Appropriate Raw Foods and also for Bones and Raw Food Diet.

When putting together a raw food diet for your dog , it’s important that you understand what your dog’s nutritional needs are and that you are capable of meeting them. This may include committing a bit of extra preparation time each day or week (depending on how often you make the food). You should be prepared to do some research and exercise common sense when preparing your dog’s food. You can find tons of tips in the Dog Food for Life eBook.

So, what foods should be included in the typical raw food diet? The answer is simple: meat and vegetables. Half of each meal should be made up of meat and the other half vegetables. If you can, try and get your meat from a butcher to ensure freshness. Start off with just meat for a few days when you are switching your dog food. Once your dog has settled into this you can start adding some bland veggies such as carrots. You should use a blender or food processor for your veggies, as this will make it easier for your dog to digest them.

Don’t be afraid to add raw meaty bones to your homemade dog food. You can use bones from chicken backs, wings, and necks, as well as turkey necks, but be sure that you do not serve your dog cooked bones, as they can splinter inside your dog and cause severe medical issues. Bones are a great way for your dog to exercise both his jaws and the muscles in his upper body.

Good luck with your homemade dog food! You can find out more information about which dog food ingredients should be avoided in store-bought kibble and other helpful information for creating your own dog food and providing hygiene support for your dog by visiting Dog Food for Life Here.

Some basic dog training may be needed for dogs with separation anxiety. It is a fairly common problem but not always recognized for what it is.

Basic Dog Training Guide — Here

Most dogs develop a deep and loving bond with their owners, so it makes sense that they would miss you when you’re gone, however there is a difference between this natural and healthy emotion and a much deeper problem. If your dog tries to dig out of your house when you are gone or is exhibiting severe issues about you not being around, he may be suffering from separation anxiety.

Doggy Separation Anxiety

Visit Dog Food for Life — Here

In the way that a child can become severely stressed when their parents aren’t around, a dog can also exhibit extreme behavior during separation, usually due to a life change or a past traumatic incident. We’re going to give a few examples of situations that could lead a dog to develop an unhealthy neediness to be with their owners at all times.

A year ago, Roscoe was an abandoned puppy scared and lonely when his owner found him. He now lives a happy life with a very caring and loving owner. One would think that Roscoe s story is one with a simple, happy ending until Roscoe s owner leaves the house. Suddenly, the neighbors are complaining that Roscoe barks too much, and his owner often comes home to find furniture chewed, trash bins overturned, and scratch-marks on the door.

A dog can be trained out of this with the proper dog training and a litle patience

This is a very common case with animals with a past that includes abandonment. Although a rescued dog can live a happy life and be a great pet, they can still retain issues of feeling as though they will be abandoned again every time their owner leaves the house.

Max is usually a very good dog and rarely creates a fuss. He became a member of the family when his mom was pregnant. He was used to dad being gone at work most of the day, but was content to man the fort until dad got home to play. This had been the routine for about a year now. Then suddenly, mom starts disappearing during the day as well, and Max is scared and stressed at being left by himself all day.

Life changes can have a huge affect on a pet. This can be a number of things, such as the death of another pet or family member, changes in your work schedule (or the amount of time you re with your pet decreases), or moving frequently.

There are ways to treat this, but nothing will work instantaneously. These are psychological issues that take time to overcome. For tips on handling doggy separation anxiety, read the Dog Food for Life eBook.
Have you taken a good look at the ingredients on the label of your dog’s food? Do you know what all of the ingredients are? One look at the label of my dog’s previous brand of food had me shocked I didn’t know what over half of the ingredients were, some of them I couldn’t even pronounce! I was lucky enough to find the Dog Food for Life eBook, which opened my eyes to what I was really feeding my dog.

Checking The Labels

One specific thing to look out for when checking the label of your dog’s food is the source of protein, which should be a form of meat (but occasionally companies will include items such as soy, wheat, or corn). This is where dog food companies have become particularly sneaky. Some companies have simply listed meat as an ingredient. This meat could include rendered carcasses, which can consist of road kill or even the bodies of cats and dogs that have been put down in animal shelters and veterinary offices. So technically, you could be turning your dog into a cannibal and not even know it!

If the dog food label doesn t name a specific source of meat (such as beef, chicken, lamb, etc.), then you very well may be feeding your dog mystery meat! Try searching for a dog food that lists specific sources of meat as the first ingredient, as dogs derive the majority of their nutrients in the form of protein.

Other ingredients that provide important nutritional value to every dog’s diet are: carbohydrates, fats, vitamins, minerals, and water. Carbohydrates are primarily used for energy, but dogs do not require a great deal of them to be healthy. A high-protein, low-carb diet is usually best for canines.

As for fats, there are two types: animal fat (saturated) and vegetable (polyunsaturated), and your dog needs a good balance of both. Vitamins and minerals are imperative to your dog’s health, however nearly half of them are lost in the process of creating dry dog food. You may want to ask your vet about administering a vitamin & mineral supplement to your dog’s diet. Water is, of course, a vital aspect of a dog s diet. Make sure to always have clean, fresh water available to your dog at all times.

The gecko is found in many warm climates around the globe. Gecko’s can be located in a variety of warm areas, they are wide spread, pose no threat to people and are quite adaptable. They do not mind the presence of people and will live peacefully with them.

Geckos when in captive will also eat meal worms and wax worms.

Wax worms should be given as a treat maybe 3 worms per week at most. Baby geckos will eat fruit flies. The species drosophila are the most popular.

Geckos can be kept easily as pets and make a beautiful addition to a lizard collection. The best option is a captive bread specimen. The price ranges from to as high as 00. Sizes range from 3-4 inches for a new hatchling, and right up to 12 inches for some of the giants. The typical size of most adults geckos is 8 inches. The lifespan of a gecko can be as long as 20 years or more in captivity. The type of care is deterministic of these long life spans. A happy gecko is a long lived one.

It is very important you monitor how much a gecko eats so that it gets enough food. It is a good idea to provide a separate container to the one they live in to feed them their meals. You can monitor their diet easily and keep the main habitat clean.

Once you have acquired your pet, created its housing, set up its nutritional needs, and let it settle in, it is time to get acquainted. So in general, try not to handle your gecko on a regular basis until they settle in for a few days and are at least 6 inches in length.

You can also add a jar lid that has some vitamin powder in it to the cage. Geckos seem to know when to take a little as required for their health. Feeding the gecko food every other day should be optimal. Feeding eight meal worms three to four time a week to a four inch gecko which fits the two appropriately sized insects for every inch of your gecko’s total length dietary model

You almost certainly spend time on the safety of yourselves and your family. However do not forget your pets. This is a crucial element of pet care. Summer is particularly difficult and different for your pet. The two main things to watch for are the effects of warmer weather and vacations.

Lets start with the effect of the heat on the pet. They are like us they will need more water, keep it accessible 24 / 7. If you regularly go dog walking make sure they have the ability to have water, every sixty minutes or so, or even more regularly if you are of the active type.

Whilst you would not think or leaving your children or baby in a locked car in the sun, it is surprising and a shame the amount of people who do this to their pets. This can murder an animal, temperatures in the sun, can swiftly rise to more than 100 degrees. Leaving the window slightly ajar, does not help that much.

Just like ourselves, with the same amount of activity, you need fewer calories to preserve your weight in the summer. If you, or your animal, keep consuming the same, you certainly will put on weight. Pet obesity is becoming more of an issue. Putting on weight in summer, will slow the pet down in winter and this can then lead to more weight gain, so think of reducing the intake of food, or as a minimum, keep an eye on your pets weight.

Also be careful with leaving moist / wet food out. The food will most quickly go off as its temperature gets near to blood temperature of ~100 degrees. If the pet does not consume wet food within half an hour, through it away. Dry food is very safe, as long as it does not become wet. So if you have a slobbery pet, often and little should be the principle. Also be careful about condensation, or drops of water from the air conditioner.

Whilst exercising the dog during the hot weather, this may not have caused problems, nevertheless, he may suddenly want to leap into some water, with you if you are holding onto the lead. Perhaps more dangerous is the leap into a canal, if he is not on a leash. In London, if you are by the Serpentine, regularly you see people being pulled in! Not helped by them wanting to say hi to the ducks. In summer there is often more wildlife around for them to chase, so be watchful and controlling.

Summer, is often the time of the long vacation. So if you are having to choose a pet sitter, try to find a professional company such as London Pet Sitting, who vet and train their pet sitters. A professional pet sitter, will even check out all the risks as part of their contract. Pet Sitting is often the best option for the animal, they prefer to be in their house. If not, and you must board them, check the kennels out. Ideally a personal recommendation, as in everything there can be good and pitable. The pet may not like it, but they are safe.

What about taking your pet on vacation with the family. This is the most risky choice for a pet. Prepare and plan well. Food, water, toys, blankets etc. The journey in the automobile is dangerous for us as well. Think about using a pet restraint, you wear one, for obvious reason, so ensure your pet has one. The danger of dehydration, so stop for water stops for you and your pet every hour, perhaps a bit longer if you have air conditioning on. Be particularly vigilant on the stops, look out for traffic movement, and the animal may want to take a runner (you might as well).

When you arrive you will be in a strange location. So check it out thoroughly for any dangers to your pet. The greatest one is running away, especially in motels, straight out onto a main road and cars. Did you know that digestion of fruit and particularly raisins and grapes is dangerous to dogs, so keep them away from the fruit.

Pets, will find it difficult to get back to your motel, if lost, its not as likely as if they were at home and the neighbours know them. This is not the case on vacation. Ensure you have solid and visible name / phone tags and keep them on a leash.

I hope you and your pets have a happy, problem free holiday.

performance dog food

When searching for quality organic dog food it is vital that you read the label and have the knowledge to understand and interpret the information you find. When glancing at the label, look for the first oil or fat that is listed. All items placed above the first fat source are considered to be the main ingredients along with the first fat source. The other items shown on the label are typically added to the dog food for flavor, as preservatives, to aid in the processing of the food or for health benefits such as minerals or vitamins.

It is important that you check the ingredients for their nutritional value. However, due to the names the manufacturers use for food items it can be somewhat difficult to analyze the usefulness of the food substances. It is difficult to know what quality grade of food items they are placing in the foods as well as the quantity of the ingredients.

Surf Manufacturer’s Websites

The Association of American Feed Control Officials (AAFCO) does not allow dog food manufacturers to place information on the labels regarding the quality of the food substances. It is important to read the information that is available on the websites of the various pet food companies and carefully read the information they provide about the quality of the ingredients they use in their products.

Protein

Since protein is the most important item in your pets diet, it would be imperative that you serve your dog only quality sources of protein. Quality dog foods usually have a meat meal listed as the first ingredient on the label or a meat with the second ingredient being a meat meal substance. Meat by-products are not high quality protein sources. If the label mentions a specific type of meat meal, such as chicken meal this type of protein source is not inferior to whole meats. Stay away from products that does not indicate the animal in which the meat source was derived from.

Regarding fats look for chicken fat, herring oil canola oil, sunflower oil, flax oil and other fat sources with specific names. See if the quality fats such as Omega three and Omega six are on the label. Try to avoid foods that contain ingredients like poultry fat, animal fat, and other non specific sources of fat.

Look for fresh vegetables or whole grains which may also be labeled as ground or meal. Avoid products that are filled with too much grain fragments and flour. Also the high quality dog food are typically preserved with natural substances such as herbs and vitamins.
If you are unaccustomed to the lifestyle of a ferret, it is a good idea that you do a bit of research or ask your local pet store about ferret information. Ferret care is very different from caring for a typical dog, cat, or hamster. For instance, it might be a real shock to you to find that your ferret wants to play during the night time and sleep throughout the daytime hours.

It will do you a great deal of good to find out as much information about feeding ferrets as you can, as ferrets have a very different diet than most indoor pets. Ferrets are carnivores that means that most plants hold absolutely no nutritional value for them. They also digest their food quite fast, and it will be your responsibility to make sure that the food your ferret receives is full of the energy he needs.

You will need to make sure that you feed your ferret food that is high in things like protein and fat, yet low in fiber. Do make sure that you always feed food that is recommended for a ferret, and never feed him food specified for another animal.

While it is possible to train your ferret to use litter though it will take you longer to train a ferret then a cat. You must be willing to limit the ferret’s space so they have a small area in which the litter is placed. The litter pan should also be very easy to access. You should not completely clean it as a small amount of urine or feces will let the ferret know that this is the area that is to be used as a bathroom. Ferret cages should be kept clean and have designated feeding and sleeping areas.

If you are unable to live with a distinctive musky pet odor, you may want to consider getting a different type of pet. Ferrets are notorious for their musky odor, and no amount of bathing will be able to prevent this. In fact, over-bathing your ferret can result in his skin releasing even more of the odorous oils to replace those which were stripped from his coat.

Owning a ferret can be a wonderful experience, but you must be prepared for the responsibilities of owning one. It is a good idea to research all of the ferret supplies that will be necessary for his care, as well as eating and behavioral habits. It is even a good idea to look into the diseases and various conditions that ferrets are prone to and set up a regular vet schedule for check-ups.

Pets are very important members of a family. They are superb companions for their owners whom they unconditionally adore. A cat or a dog can definitely be counted on for comfort in lonely times. They are very loyal and generous with their affection. All they ask in return is a snug place to doze, a bowl of water and nutritious food .

Considering all they give to their owners, these requests could be seen as relatively small in comparison. Although, providing food and shelter for pets may not seem to be that much of a big deal, it is important they are provided with their basic needs.

There are many kinds of pet food on sale nowadays. When shopping for pet food an individual will find all sorts of well-known brand names as well as no name brands. Whether you buy trade from a pet save, or veterinarian there are elite, high vitamin content diets available. It’s very important to know what you are feeding your pets. Some pet foods may taste great to your cat or dog but include very little nutrients. Just as humans need vital nutrients and vitamins to sustain a well body, pets need these basic ingredents also.

Many pets are fed from the family kitchen table. Owners may imagine that feeding their pets left-over food provides them with prime nutrition. This is not necessarily the case. After all, not all humans are in the regular practice of maintaining wholesome diets for themselves. Sure pets adore receiving scraps and are not prone to turn them down but are they actually benefitting from them or being hurt by them?

Vitamins are a very important part of a pet’s diet. At the time that pet food is made or processed there are vitamins and preserativess added. However through the processing stages many of these lose their nutritive value. When pet food is exposed to light and air, for example, many of the nutrients are diluted down and then the pet ends up not receiving the recommended amounts. This is where multivitamin supplements come into the picture. Multivitamins are important for your pets. Because many of the desired nutrients are not included in pet food or lost before the pet ever gets them, multivitamin supplements are a superb way to assure pets recieve the recommended quantity. Just as there are multivitamin supplements for humans, there are multivitamin supplements for pets.

Why are multivitamins so important for your pets? As with humans, pets are subject to vomiting and disease. A personal diet, containing the necessary vitamins and minerals help to make sure a pet is well guarded against the many common universal diseases seen in pets. Multivitamins are able to boost your pet’s immune system, preparing them to fight off ticks, fleas, mites and disease. Multivitamins are important for your pet’s spirit and vigor and to protect their gums and teeth. As pets age these issues become more and more important and so multivitamins are definitely recommended for aging pets.

A development that tends to distress pets and pet owners alike, especially as pets age is bone and dual disease. Often termed arthritis, there are numerous types of bone disease seen in these pets which attackl different areas of their bodies. Pets, unlike humans are powerless verbally to express their stress and anguish. They may be mutely miserable with excruciating pain, nameless to their owners. With time this problem will become visible in the way the pet walks and moves around. Multivitamins can help pets maintain healthy joints and bones and so they are less likely to develop painful and distressing conditions. A pet requires certain minerals and vitamins to continued vitality and bone strength. Because owners aren’t certain they are receiving these necessities in their pet food, multivitamin supplements are important.

Now that you know multivitamins are important for your pets, which supplements should you give them and where do you buy them? Perhaps the best idea is to ask for recommendations for your pet from the physician, the veterinarian. Through normal examinations your pet’s vet will spot any abnormalities that might perhaps be helped. If your pet is showing signs of a deterioration of fitness in their joints and/or bones, the vet will know what they need to counter this. Proper multivitamins can help your pet’s joints and bones and support them in living a longer and more enjoyable life.

The Internet is a great resource for information about the importance of multivitamins for your pets. There are countless websites which are committed to pets and their wellness. These sites present beneficial details about the value of explicit vitamins and minerals for your pet’s health. Researching and learning all you can about what your pet requirs will help you ensure they stay around for a long time. Just as there are many types of pet foods advertised, there are many kinds of multivitamins on the market for your pets. Not all pets need the same dosages of multivitamins so it’s imperative to learn what your particular pet’s needs are before adding them to your pet’s daily regime. Your pets love you. Return that feeling by providing them with multivitamins for a long and happy life.
